Consider the Lilies

So, I’m dragging a little this morning and my heart feels heavy for various reasons. I was tempted to “waller in my own misery”. Yes, I am educated well enough to know the word is actually “wallow” but somehow “waller” really expresses how I feel today but now I’m chasing rabbits and shall get back to the point… In order to get my mind off my miseries, I started perusing my photos and was reminded of what a beautiful “blooming” year we’ve had here in Alabama.

And I smiled.
And I was thankful.
And my perspective started to improve.

This lily was planted last year and I absolutely love how the sunlight filters through the petals. It may look familiar as it has been my logo for Hope and a Dash of Humor. It reminds me of Jesus’s words instructing us to not worry…

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow? They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, …

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Matthew 6: 25-31, 33 NIV

My heart has been heavy about some things recently. I know you likely feel that heavy heart sometimes too. And I didn’t rest much last night thanks to pain. I feel certain some of you have those nights too. The lily picture reminds me of Jesus’s words ….

Do Not Worry …

Seek First His Kingdom and His Righteousness …

And that’s what it’s all about. I may not feel the best today. I may have a heavy heart but I should Focus on my Father and His Kingdom and He will take care of the rest. 😊
